Introduction to coding
Coding with Python
Description: This workshop covers the very basics of coding in Python using a hands-on, project-based approach. It is designed as a starting point for individuals who want to learn more about computer programming and provides them with the opportunity to start coding their own simple programs! Every lesson covers one basic concept of coding, a live demo, and then a chance for students to apply that concept to a real project. The concepts covered include variables, conditional statements, loops, functions, and file input/output.
Overall Project and Environment: Given the recent popularity of online food ordering apps like GrubHub and Doordash, this course will attempt to allow students to practice programming by working on a series of programs designed to mimic the basic functionalities of these food-ordering/delivery apps.
Rather than have each student have to set up a local coding environment, all practice will be done online in a browser using a tool like Replit. All students will need to participate in an internet browser and an internet connection!
Grades: 8+
Schedule: Not offered at the moment
Cost: This is a free course.
